Howdy Hi Friends!

After finally finding some time I updated the mod to version 1.6.2. This will eliminate the thaw beam, which seemed to be the number one complaint when playing freeze tag.

Other changes include the removal of fixed turrets in freeze tag and the addition of a day/night cycle. Depending on the length of a game it is possible for the lighting to change from day to night and back again.

But the most interesting change is the ability for you to modify your custom weapons settings in game. That’s right, no more waiting for the round to end for you to access the custom settings menu!

There are about a bazillion config files with this recent update so I know I probably missed something somewhere. So when you find a goof or have an idea that you would like to see, please comment on this article so I can make the changes that YOU want!

Howdy hi HolyLand!

Just a friendly reminder to our friends and members that Thursday nights are “Quit what you’re doing and get on the server and play” nights. For the sake of brevity, we’ll just keep calling it Thursday. So get off your sofa, turn off the TV, and come log on to the HLC server and lets have some fun. After all, it’s what you pay dues for isn’t it???

Wow, its already been four weeks since HolyLand Clan reopened! I'm glad to see many of our old friends return and I am hopeful that there will be many more in the coming weeks!
With the closing of the Open House period we will be locking down TeamSpeak and any former members that wish to come back will have to begin their progression through the ranks as a Private. The TeamSpeak password will be posted in the forums so keep an eye out. New or returning members will have the password emailed to them as part of their welcome email.  Details on rank progression can be found under the About HolyLand tab at the top of the page.
In addition the closing of the Open House brings another opportunity. The server was put together with the limited focus of getting something up and running and to experiment with mods and custom maps. Now its your turn to help decide what's on the server. Look for a post on the forum in the next day or so. This thread will ask a number of questions that will let us shape the server to make your time online more enjoyable and draw more traffic. Please take the time to post your answers in the thread and give us honest feedback. We are here to make your online time as enjoyable as possible. HolyLand Clan is off to a running start for it's "official" Grand RE-Opening weekend!

Within the last few weeks we've made a ton of progress getting HLC on the map again and in just this past week we've seen the return of several former HLC members! Our gameserver's been getting a workout regularly, and our Open House session last night was a blast. It was also enjoyable to play host to some former HLC members who have been gaming with us and a few have already expressed their interest in possibly rejoining our community after seeing again first-hand that HolyLand really has returned to its roots of non-judgemental, fun, hassle-free gaming. I'm looking forward to this trend continuing as we move forward!

With this being our official re-opening weekend, it also means that it won't be long before we lock up our TeamSpeak for members-only access. Although it's great to have non-members join us in TS to chat or catch up on things in the case of former members, a private TeamSpeak server is one of the privileges that HLC members contribute towards. Of course the in-game voice chat is and still will be open to all, but being in TS while playing has just always seemed more enjoyable. An announcement will be made prior to us locking our TeamSpeak server.

Thanks go to everyone so far who has been contributing their time, efforts, and feedback into rebuilding HolyLand into a great community! There's still plenty of time for any former HLC member to return and have a say in our reconsctruction. Our ranks are open and this group is very welcoming.

... Fun, Family-Friendly, Non-Competitive Gaming...

HolyLand Clan is a living and breathing community again, thanks to a group of former-Holies that missed everything HolyLand offered and stood for.

The website and the community are currently being rebuilt and although some things will appear different, the Heart of HolyLand Clan hasn't changed. We remain dedicated to the principles of fun, family-friendly, non-competitive gaming that so many members and players appreciated for so many years.

The new leadership of HolyLand Clan has spent the last several months reviewing the old policies and practices of HLC and made careful notes about things that could have been done differently to make the community more enjoyable for all of its members and guests. Among some of the more obvious changes (the new website code), we've also re-written the policies on ranks & promotions to eliminate the confusion and bias that frequently plagues this important component of online FPS gaming clans. We're also implementing new strategies to engage more of our membership in the operation of the community.

RIGHT NOW is a great time to come back to HolyLand Clan. As each day passes, HolyLand Clan will be coming closer to its official relaunch date, Friday June 19th, 2009(see the site calendar for more details!).

Website construction will continue and new links to more information about what the new HLC is about and how it's operated will be added. In the meantime, we invite former HolyLand Clan members to "come home" to the place that you and your HLC family enjoyed so many hours of stress-free gaming.

During this period of time surrounding our Official Re-Launching date, we're extending an invitation to former HolyLand Clan members to rejoin our ranks and help rebuild HLC back the way we all loved it. If you are interested, send an email to Moses (you know the email address!). By rejoining during this period, you will be reinstated to an advanced rank in HolyLand reflecting your prior years of service to our community.

We are now accepting new members as well, so if you are interested, click the Join HolyLand block on the top right side of the homepage. We are already currently hosting a COD4 server (information in the Game Monitor block to the right) and a TeamSpeak server (password protected for current members only) with plans to expand as our membership grows again.
